Christmas in January

I know, we just got finished with Christmas and the whole holiday thing but I decided to do some Christmas cards for this blog post. So here they go:

First I chose Seasons Greetings Tree because I like how they punched out several scalloped circles, glued them together and trimmed them into a tree shape. I like more traditional Christmas colors, so I chose different paper for my version.

Card is 4 1/2 by 4 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - kraft, 4 shades of green, shimmer blue; patterned paper - Forest and Shiver in Figgy Pudding by Basic Gray ; green velvet ribbon - Michael's; star button - my stash; red bakers twine - Papertrey Inc. ; rub on - winter holidays wordage - Making Memories ; snowflake metal charm - Making Memories; border punch - EK Success .

For the second card I picked Deck The Halls. Their version is adorable, but again I went with a more traditional color theme. I also chose to use metal charms for the ornaments.

Card is 5 X 6 /12

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper - Christmas - Kissing Santa Claus by American Crafts and scrap from my paper stash; Holiday Chip toppers - Bazill ; bakers twine - Papertrey Inc. ; Christmas variety eyelet charms - Making Memories ; border punch - Martha Stewart.

For card #3 I chose Be Merry. It inspired me to make this cute card with Basic Grey's new line for this Christmas called Jovial!

Card is 5 X 6 1/2

Supplies used:cardstock - green and white; patterned paper - crushed velvet and blizzard from Jovial by Basic Grey ; die cut journal card - Jovial by Basic Grey; rub on - Yuletide by K&Compnay ; Ribbon - Oasis by SEI .

Last for today I picked Home Sweet Holidays which is so cute! It encouraged me to come up with this:

Card is 5 X 6 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white and red; patterned paper - Be Good: Ribbons by Cosmo Cricket ; tag, stocking, chipboard - Be Good: Ornament Fashions by Cosmo Cricket; ribbon - my stash; ink - Antique Pewter by ColorBox; font - Santa's Sleigh.

Thanks for peaking!!! I LOVE comments, suggestions, questions, etc.!!!!!!

Card is 4 1/2 X 7 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper - Play Nice in My Little Monsters by Daisy Bucket; border punch - Fiskars; alphabet stickers - mini slim alphabet by Colorbok; Dogs, balloon and hat cut from Paper Pups Cricut cartridge by Provo Craft; red floss, white floss and red button - my stash

Count Your Rainbows!

My first card pick for today is Count Your Rainbows because I really thought this quote by a 12 year old girl is what we should all try to do! Look at our positives and not our negatives. Life has enough negatives, we certainly don't need to dwell on them.

Card is 5 X 6 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white, black, blue, red, green, yellow; patterned paper - scrap from my stash; red ribbon - Michael's; border punch - EK Success; rainbow die cut from Once Upon A Princess Cricut cartridge by Provo Craft; font - Bring tha noize.

My next pick is Bright and Cheery Get Well. I liked the design, but I just wasn't overly thrilled with the choice of paper and sticker. Here is my version.

Card is 4 1/2 X 4 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - rust, navy, tan; patterned paper - buckle & vintage tee in Boxer by Basic Grey ; chipboard flower - Boxer by Basic Grey; alphabet stickers - Vagabond by Basic Grey; eyelet and hemp cord - no source

I went with the With Sympathy card next, but again, wasn't excited about their choices. Hope you like mine.

Card is 4 1/2 X 4 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - grey and green; patterned paper - rattan in Poppy by SEI ; journal card and butterfly - polished pearl accents in Bridgeport by SEI; rub on - support/sympathy by Timeless Transfers; border punch - Martha Stewart.

Last I chose Under The Weather. I liked their choices but I tweaked it anyway.

Card is 5 /12 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper - that's my boy-daring dots paper, little boy blue-when I grow up, jack and jill-so cute, jack and jill-life is good, all in Quite Contrary line by My Minds Eye ; umbrella die cut - jack and jill-favorite thing in Quite Contrary by My Minds Eye; buttons and white floss - no source; font - your choice

Seashore Shadow Box

I created this shadow box for my brother, it is his very late Christmas gift. Hope he'll forgive me!

Mike and I made a trip with my brother and my nieces to Monterey last year. We had a wonderful time and I wanted to make a special remembrance of this fun trip. I decided a shadow box would be just the thing. You can pick these up at Michael's rather inexpensively. The shadow box is made for 12 x 12 paper. I used patterned paper from the Happy Trails paper pad by K&Company for the background. I double matted the pictures I chose and used pop up dots for some of them to give them some dimension. The title and seagulls were cut out of the Life is a Beach Cricut cartridge by Provo Craft. The sand dollar was one I found at a very lucky day at the beach is San Francisco!

The other shells were both purchased and found by me at other beach trips. The song "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce has special meaning in our family and I wanted to incorporate it in the box. The sands of time move so quickly and if only we could keep them in a bottle! I put some sand in a tiny bottle and printed part of the song lyric on a tag which I added to the box with a pop dot. I also added some little blue plastic 3D dots that looked like bubbles from the ocean spray (thank you Cythnia).

I am happy with the results. Hope my brother likes it!

I love comments!

Besides making cards yesterday I finished my brothers shadow box (future blog post). Love the weekends because there is more time to spend in my favorite room of the house!

First pick for Saturday was One Big Hello. Cute card with a lot of punch! I just made a few minor changes, but otherwise kept it like it is:

Card is 4 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper - Life's Journey green stripe by K&Company , ric rac in June Bug by Basic Grey & scrap from my stash; ribbon - American Crafts ; flower - Prima ; alphabet stickers - Mellow by Basic Grey; tree sticker - Ellen Krans Nature Walk by Me & My Big Ideas ; corner rounder punch - Fiskars; button and white floss - my stash

T.G.I.F.C.

Here are my Thank God It's Friday Cards:

Father's Day will be here before you know it, so I picked the Father's Day Hugs & Kisses card. I wasn't hip on the colors or the really large label, so I toned down the label and used a different color scheme. Although the colors are pink and burgundy I think the kraft background and the pattern make it manly.

Card is 4 1/2 X 6

Supplies used: cardstock - kraft and burgundy; pattern paper - Making Memories ; ribbon - American Crafts ; journaling sticker - Chloe's Closet by Making Memories; stamp - I Love You from Be My Valentine by We R Memory Keepers ; black brads by Doodlebug .

Baby Bunny was an adorable card. I had these vintage elephant appliques that I had been aching to use, so I came up with this card:

Card is 5 1/2 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - kraft, cream, blue; patterned paper - scrap from my stash; ribbon - American Crafts ; sentiment stamp - baby button bits by Papertrey Inc. ; corner rounder punch - Fiskars; vintage elephant applique - thrift store

I love your comments, questions and suggestions!

What, more cards?

First card for today is Trick or Treat. I thought the line of ghosts holding hands was cute, but the card, to me, seemed a little sparse. It inspired me to find a paper which had some kind of Halloween scene that continued across the paper. Here is what I came up with:

Card is 4 1/2 x 8

Supplies used: cardstock - orange; patterned paper - nieghborhood and costumes in Blackbird by My Minds Eye ; Happy Halloween - puff elements in eerie alley by SEI ; ribbon - Making Memories ; Boo! charm - Doodlebug ; garment pin - Making Memories.

I love gumball machines, in fact I own a vintage one which I keep supplied with gumballs for the kids. Stampin' Up! has a really cute gumball stamp which can be used with their treat cups to add real candy to your cards! I had to go that route.

Card is 5 1/2 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - teal; patterned paper - bitty dot basics - Papertrey Inc. , ribbon sandwich in Early Bird by Cosmo Cricket ; gumball stamp - Something Sweet by Stampin' Up! ; ink pad - Real Red by Stampin' Up!; embossing powder - Stampin' Up!; sweet treat cups - Stampin' Up!; rhinestones - Kaisercraft ; font - SNF Goody; candy - your choice.

I picked Feathered Friends next, mostly because I liked the idea of a Miss You card. I went a slightly different direction with it as I chose a cute dog chip piece rather than the birds.

Card is 4 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper - vintage plaid, cabana and corsage from June Bug by Basic Grey ; chipboard sticker - June Bug by Basic Grey; letter stickers - June Bug by Basic Grey.

Last, but not least for today, is Enjoy the Ride. I liked this card so I didn't really change it much, just used supplies which I owned.

Card is 4 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white, greens, blue, orange, brown; patterned paper - my scrap pile; flower stickers - dimensionals by Debbie Mumm; bike stamp - everyday button bits by Papertrey Inc. ; small flower punch - no source; buttons - my stash; font - your choice.

I am having a ball! Thanks so much for all your comments, I really appreciate them!

Cards A Plenty

I am having so much fun making my cards for my card challenge. Here are four new creations:

The next pick was hard because I really liked both cards on the page. I decided to go with Happy Anniversary.

Card is 5 x 6 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white, light blue, blue and red; patterned paper - strawberry fields in Garden Variety by Cosmo Cricket ; Border punch - EK Success ; heart punch - Fiskars; bird template - in stitches by Bazill ; glitter glue - Dazzle by Hero Arts ; font - your choice

Next I chose Always In Style. Thought by taking the Mom out of the quote it could be a cute card for a birthday, thinking of you, etc.

Card is 5 X 6 1/2

Supplies used: carstock - white; patterned paper - keepsakes-chaplet by SEI ; black polka dots by Doodlebug ; stickers - unique boutique by Rob & Bob Studios from Provo Craft; rub on - purkey by American Crafts

Sunny Thoughts caught my eye on the next page. With the Spring looking images I decided to make it an Easter card. Hint: By cutting one of the petals off of a flower you have a butterfly!!!

Card is 4 X5 1/2

Supplies Used: carstock - kraft, blue, green, pink, orange, and yellow; tiny flower punch - no source; black and yellow brads - Making Memories ; rub ons - American Crafts and Doodlebug; black pen - American Crafts; sun cut with Just Because Cards Cricut cartridge .

Last for today is Thanks Teacher. I liked the idea of a a teacher card with a student on the front, but wanted a brighter color combination so I came up with my own twist.

Card is 4 X 5 1/2

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper - school dot/line by Pebbles Inc. ; letter stickers - chalkboard by Jenni Bowlin ; girl die cut - Kids by All About Me Paper Co.; buttons and floss - my stash

I love comments, suggestions, criticism, etc.!! Tell me what you think.
