Doily St. Patrick's Day

I wanted to share this card with you that I made over the weekend.

I had some shamrock doily's that I bought a couple years ago. I thought that one would make a cute background for a card. The doily is foil, and I felt a bit to shiny, so I inked it up with white and olive green ink to tone it down.

I fussy cut another doily from patterned paper and glued it to the top of my inked up doily.

Added some pretty, lacy, gold ribbon I bought at Christmas time and clustered some cute buttons and brads. Pretty easy and I think it turned out kinda cute.

Supplies used: cardstock - white, green; doily - Royal Lace; patterned paper - Sichuan in Oasis by SEI; ink - white by A La Mode and Olive Pastel by ColorBox; ribbon - Michaels; brad - K& Co.; buttons - my stash; sentiment stamp - Studio G.

Congrats On Your New Hive

I saw a card similar to this one in one of my Paper Crafts magazine, except it was done using a stamped image.
I thought it was so cute but didn't have a stamp like it, so.......

I cut out 20 hexagons using my Cameo and a Silhouette file. I glued them on white cardstock and then took a couple that had the bees on them and popped them up for some dimension. The little bee was cut with my Cricut using the Walk In My Garden cartridge. I cut the wings with vellum, so they would be transparent. I popped the little bee up also.

I'm happy with the result.

Supplies used: cardstock - purple, white, black, yellow; vellum; patterned paper - Spring Humble Honeybee in Dear Lizzy by American Crafts; Silhouette Studio files; Walk In My Garden Cricut cartridge; font - Basque Normal; Pop Dots

Lucky / Whimsical Wednesday Challenge #45

I'm so lucky to have friends like all of you!!!!

Today is Wednesday and time for a new Whimsical Wednesday challenge at Whimsical Designs!

This weeks challenge is "Going Green" create any card or project and include the color green. The design team has come up with some wonderful projects to get your mojo going, so pop over to the blog and check out everyones beautiful work.

Beginning this week the Whimsical Wednesday challenges will be every other week. You will have two weeks to link up your project before the next challenge. You still have one more week to link up your "Getting Sketchy" project.

For my project this week I decided to make a St Patrick's Day card. I took a piece of green cardstock and wrapped ribbon and rick rack around it. On another shade of green cardstock I attached a piece of patterned paper which I had border punched. I took a corner rounder to a smaller piece of white cardstock, paper pierced around the edge, attached three glitter shamrock stickers and a rub on and glued it to the green, patterned paper piece. I attached that to the ribbon wrapped card with pop dots. And viola....

Supplies used: cardstock - white, two shades of green; patterned paper- St. Patrick's by Best Creation; glitter shamrock stickers - dollar bin at JoAnn's; rub on - Kate by American Crafts; ribbon - American Crafs; rick rack - JoAnn's; Pop Dots.

Party Time / CTO chalenge #53

Another Tuesday rolls around and another challenge for you over at Celebrate The Occasion!

This weeks challenge is Birthday - Shape card. The design team has some really fun inspiration for you. Stop on by and check out their creative projects and I hope you'll join us by linking your shape card up on the blog.

For my card I cut my dinosaur out with my Cameo using a Silhouette file. I felt he needed something so I cut a chest out for him freehand, cut his teeth out in white freehand and added a google eye. For the banner he's holding, I used a cut that had an airplane flying with this banner attached. I just cut the plane off so my dinosaur could carry the banner. The balloon is also a Silhouette file. I wanted it to look like it was tied to his tail, so I glued twine onto the balloons string and tied it to his tail. I reinforced the balloon with a small piece of wire that is glued to the back of the balloon and the back of the dinosaur.

Supplies used: cardstock - white; patterned paper by SEI; rub on - American Crafts; google eye - Michaels; twine - My stash; Cut files by Silhouette Studio
