Die Cuttin' Divas Kid Theme (In honor of Cartoonist Day May 5th) Challenge

I have two daughters and when they were growing up I think the two most popular cartoons for girls were My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake.

 It seemed as though one of the two were always on the TV at my house.

Both of these cartoons are back now, although the characters in each have undergone makeovers!!

This week we are having a kid themed challenge in honor of Cartoonist Day on May 5th.

In honor of my daughters I chose to make something with Strawberry Shortcake

The treat bag I made is a "Print and Cut" file at the Silhouette Store and couldn't be easier.

It is called berry sweet treat bag and is Design ID #74519

Die Cuttin' Divas Lets Talk Turkey Challenge

Die Cuttin' Divas Christmas in July Challenge

I don't know about you, but in the midst of all this sunshine and warm weather, for me, it's hard to think about Christmas. But that is what we'd like you to do over at Die Cuttin' Divas, because this week the challenge is Christmas in July.

For my project, I decided to showcase a little lollipop holder that would be great to make if you have children in school. It's very simple, with only a few cuts, and goes together quickly.

Snapdragon Snippets May Challenge

Today is May Day!!

April sure went by fast, can't believe it's May and we are heading into summer. Ah, those lazy summer days!!

Anyway, over at Snapdragon Snippets blog we are having a May - Anything goes challenge!!! The challenge is going to last all month long (yipee!!!), with fabulous prizes you can win!!!!

To get this party started I created a little treat bag and card with a couple of their files. For the treat bag I used design #58271, tall tapered quilt basket “mother” tote and for the card I used design #42994,    a2 quilt card set, both are available at the Silhouette Studio online store.

Die Cuttin' Divas - Luck Of The Irish

I'm so excited to announce to all of you that I am now a member of The Die Cuttin' Divas design team!!

I'm thrilled to ba a part of a design team that will allow me to play with both my Cameo and my Cricut machines on a weekly basis!!! It is going to be so fun to join with all the other talented ladies on this design team to bring you lots of inspiration for using your die cut machines.

This week our challenge is Luck of the Irish.  Make something with an Irish symbol (Rainbow, Leprechaun, Pot of Gold, Clover, etc). Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is California Scrappin'.

For my project I made a treat holder using a Silhouette Studio cut file.  I actually made several of these favors for my St. Patrick's Day dinner celebration. 

Super fun and and really quite simple to throw together!

Turkey Lollipop Holders

Happy Monday to everyone!!

I apologize I have been missing for a few weeks. I have had some family issues that have taken almost all my time. I am happy to be back with all of you now, though!!

I wanted to share some Turkey Lollipop holders I made for my grandson to hand out at school.
They were  made on my Cameo with a cut file from Silhouette Studio. I put together 30 of these little guys. Luckily they went together pretty easily and they are just to darn cute!!!

Here is a close up of one of the little gobblers:

I put a little piece of tacky tape on the bottom of the holder to help keep the lollipop in place.

Supplies used: card stock - brown, white, orange, yellow, rust, red, green; Tootsie Pops; Silhouette Studio cut file.

Teacher Back To School Survival Kit

Happy hump day all!!!

Today I'd like to share a little Back To School Survival kit I made for my grandsons teacher.
His first day of kindergarten was Monday. He looked like such a big boy and was so excited to go to school. I thought it would be fun for him to take his teacher a little something.

I went to one of my favorite sources for inspiration - Pinterest!!!
I found lots of variations of this theme and I kind of combined several to come up with my little gift basket.

I found most of the items for my little basket at the Dollar Store, so it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to fill my survival kit with lots of fun stuff.

Some of the items were fairly small, so I put them in a plastic, divided container, which I also purchased at the Dollar Store. It was in the craft section.

I decorated the top of the plastic container too!!

I created this sign in my print shop program using a red cross image I downloaded from the internet. I printed it out on sticker paper which you can purchase at Staples and then I trimmed it down before sticking it to the top of my container.

I also created this list of all the items included in my basket, listing the significance of each item.

I had Jeff sign it and I rolled it up, tied it with a ribbon and popped it in my basket with all of my goodies.

For the outside of my little basket I dusted off my trusty Cricut machine and pulled out several cartridges to cut out my apple, pencil and the teachers name. Of course I first had surrounded my basket with some cute school themed paper.

My pencil was cut at 2 1/2" with Locker Talk, my apple was cut at 4" with Preserves; and my letters were cut at 3/4" with Cutttin Up.

My grandson said she loved it!!!

St. Paddy's Day Bog Hop

I have a couple of projects I'd like to share with you!

The first is a banner I made for my fireplace. I saw one on Pinterest and had to make my own version.

I started with a picture of a Vintage map of Ireland:

I printed seven 5X7" copies of it and then cut the bottoms so that they would look like banners.

I cut 7 shamrocks from green paper and 42 hearts from green paper. I scored all the hearts down the middle and then glued them together in two's. I glued the shamrocks onto the maps and then glued 3 sets of hearts onto each shamrock so that they would be 3 dimensional.

Then it was just a matter of hole punching the banners at each corner of the tops and running green grosgrain ribbon through the holes.

Voila, turned my fireplace from drab to festive!!

The second project is some little Hershey Kisses Shamrocks I made for the kids in my neighborhood.

I found the tutorial on how to create these at Qbees Quest.

Her tutorial is very easy to follow and all you need is two colors of green card stock, some twine or ribbon for a bow and your Hershey's Kisses.

Whimsical Wednesday "Happy St. Paddy's Day" challenge

Well, do you have your green ready to wear so you'll be "pinch proof" on St. Paddy's Day?
I have my house all decorated. We always have a fun St. Patrick's dinner at my house, complete with a hunt for the gold with my grandchildren.

This week over at Whimsical Designs our challenge theme is "Happy St. Paddy's Day", create a card or project and include something to do with St. Patricks Day: ie-green, four leaf cover, leprechaun.

For my St. Patricks Day project I made Pots of Gold as favors to put on my table for my friends and family. 

They were created using a Silhouette Studio cut file. I tied green and gold shamrock charms around the pots with twine and added a label too. The label was stamped with one of Stephanies sentiment stamps from her set Whimsical Fun Vol 1 which you can purchase here. I filled them with green M & M's and chocolate filled gold coins.

The theme of our hop is LOVE!

For my creation I made a Lollipop Garden using an SVG file from SVG Cuts that was part of the "For My Valentine" kit.

For my little gift tag I used a sentiment from Stephanie's Whimsical Fun Vol. 1 which you can purchase here. This set has a great assortment of fun sentiments for lots of occasions!!!

Without further ado here is my project:

Before glueing the box that holds the lollipops together I added a square of florists foam for added stability and to poke the lollipops into, otherwise they wanted to flop over.

On the outer, horizontal fence rails, I used pop dots for dimension.

Along with the banner, XOXO and the little bird that came with the cut file I added a couple of border punched strips of patterned paper, my little tag, some twine and a button.
