I have a few blogs I found while perusing Pinterest and one of them I enjoy going to is Little Birdie Secrets - a nest of creative tips, tricks and tutorials. It is a wonderful blog that you really should check out.

They were featuring a web site called Polka Daisy recently. Michelle at Polka Daisy makes the most beautiful hand stamped jewelry!!! You really should pop on over, but be prepared to drool.

Well, they were having a give away at Little Birdie Secrets and I was lucky enough to win, Yay!!!!! I chose this beautiful necklace to celebrate my ten years cancer free:

 Also, today I'd like to share this beautiful quote my sister sent to me. I think you will love it as much as I did, it is so true!!!

For all my Sisters 

 A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations 

of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, 

sober glance upon her daughter.

 'Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 

'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, 

no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. 

Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'

'Remember that 'sisters' means ALL the women. your girlfriends, your daughters, and 

all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married?

Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup!  Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my 

life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women 

friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to 

understand that  her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature 

work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

  THIS SAYS IT ALL:

 Time passes.

  

 Life happens.

 Distance separates.

 Children grow up.

 Jobs come and go.

 Love waxes and wanes.

 Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

 Hearts break.

 Parents die.

 Colleagues forget favors.

 Careers end.

 BUT.........

 Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.

 A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

 When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself,

 the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for

 you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the 

 valley's end.

 Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you....Or come in and 

 carry you out.

  

 Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,

 Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family: all bless our life!

 The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we 

 began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or 

 sorrows that lay ahead.

 Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

 Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on to all the women who help make

 your life meaningful.

45 Lessons Life Taught Me.

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short – enjoy it.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye But don't worry; God never blinks.

16.. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to be happy. But it’s all up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive but don’t forget.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

Off In Monterey

Hi all my bloggy friends!

I just wanted to let you all know that I am on vacation in Monterey with my family enjoying a week of R & R.  We are having a mini family reunion here, my brother and his kids, my sister and her kids, my Mom and Dad and my children and grandchildren. We had a gorgeous day today!!! My grandkids first experience at the beach.

Our first full day here was gorgeous! Couldn't have had a better day! Looking forward to more adventures tommorrow!

Anyhow I won't be posting any projects for the next week:( but luckily I have enough distractions that I shouldn't go into craft withdrawals.
