Hello Sunshine / Twisted Sketches # 154

We've hit the middle of the week, which means it is time for a new sketch and "twist" over at Twisted Sketches!

This weeks "twist" is cloth and I have to say it was a challenge for me to figure out what I was going to do. It is good to get that push to think outside of the box though. After a lot of mulling over, the sketch, for some reason, inspired me to think sunshine so I decided to make a sun out of fabric.

I ironed some heat and bond onto the back of a 7" piece of fabric, then I cut a 6" circle out of it with my Cameo. I then ironed the circle onto my cardstock. I tore a bunch of strips from the same fabric and cut them at different lengths for the suns rays. I then zig zag stitched the rays onto the cardstock. A bit labor intensive, but I am happy with the result.

The title and the kite were also cut out with my Cameo using Silhouette Studio cut files. I tore the edges of the cloud paper strip for a distressed look. I also added a little ink and some magic mesh pieces to the cardstock base.

Supplies used: cardstock - kraft, blue, yellow, red, green, black; patterned paper - California by Best Creation; twine, fabric - my stash; ribbon, trim - Jack's World by Cosmo Cricket; Magic Mesh; ink - Gathered Twigs Distress Ink by Tim Holtz for Ranger; Silhouette Studio cut files; sewing machine; Pop Dots.

Lucky / Whimsical Wednesday Challenge #45

I'm so lucky to have friends like all of you!!!!

Today is Wednesday and time for a new Whimsical Wednesday challenge at Whimsical Designs!

This weeks challenge is "Going Green" create any card or project and include the color green. The design team has come up with some wonderful projects to get your mojo going, so pop over to the blog and check out everyones beautiful work.

Beginning this week the Whimsical Wednesday challenges will be every other week. You will have two weeks to link up your project before the next challenge. You still have one more week to link up your "Getting Sketchy" project.

For my project this week I decided to make a St Patrick's Day card. I took a piece of green cardstock and wrapped ribbon and rick rack around it. On another shade of green cardstock I attached a piece of patterned paper which I had border punched. I took a corner rounder to a smaller piece of white cardstock, paper pierced around the edge, attached three glitter shamrock stickers and a rub on and glued it to the green, patterned paper piece. I attached that to the ribbon wrapped card with pop dots. And viola....

Supplies used: cardstock - white, two shades of green; patterned paper- St. Patrick's by Best Creation; glitter shamrock stickers - dollar bin at JoAnn's; rub on - Kate by American Crafts; ribbon - American Crafs; rick rack - JoAnn's; Pop Dots.
