Home Sweet Home

I wanted to share with you the gift I made for my brother for Christmas. I had seen something similar on Pinterest in which they had used maps of important places and a family tree. It gave me the inspiration for this idea.

For the first frame I cut a heart around the portion of a map of California which had the town we grew up in - Livermore. I punched a heart from red cardstock and glued it where the mark for Livermore was on the map. I stitched the map heart to the background paper (on which I had printed "Sweet Memories") with red floss.

For the second frame I did the same thing but with a portion of a map of the city of Livermore which had the street our home was on - El Caminito. I tried to place the red heart where our house was on the street. For the caption, this time, I put "Home Sweet Home".

For the last frame I made a collage of pictures in Photo Shop of my brothers, sister, Mom, Dad and I.

It was fun to make and I think it brings back wonderful memories!

Supplies used: frame - Michael's; patterned paper - my stash; sentiment printed on computer; photo collage done in Photo Shop

  3. Esther, this is a great gift! I may use this myself in the future! We do a lot with genealogy and this would be really fun to mark out the map of our family and how we traveled West!

Thank you for sharing. I've never been to Pinterest, but I have a friend who said I'd fall in love all over again with crafting (if that could be possible!)

    Blessings,
    Donna
