Happy Saturday everyone!
My daughters best friend is getting married next Saturday and I wanted to do something special for her as a gift. I saw this gorgeous shadow box in my Feb/Mar issue of Simply Handmade. I thought it would be perfect.
I used a 10 X 10 shadow box, which I removed the glass from. All the paper is plain white cardstock (not textured).
The large butterfly is cut at 1 3/4" with the Indie Art Cricut cartridge. I then cut out the wings at 1 1/2" and ran them through my embossing machine with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.
The small cone flowers were cut at 1 3/4" with accent 6 in the Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge. I cut three petals out of the flower, cutting just to the middle of the flower. Then pinch the edges together and glue. That is what gives the flower the three dimensional cone shape. The small butterflies I punched out with a Martha Stewart punch and ran those through the embosser also.
For the large flower I used the Wild Card Cricut cartridge. I cut 4 flowers (pg. 56) each at 4". Keep one flower whole. For the next three flowers cut off one petal, two petals and cut one in half. Take each of those flowers and glue edges together. Take a pencil and wrap the petals around the pencil to curl them. Then layer them into each other with glue.
The background is four pieces of cardstock cut 4 X 5" and two pieces cut 2 X 5". I ran them all through the embosser with the Floral Fantasy embossing folder. I first glued a piece of plain white cardstock cut 10 X 10 to the back of the frame and then glued the embossed pieces on top.
I glued a doily a little off center. I then splattered some watered down black paint on the bottom half. I attached the photo on top of the doily, attached all the flowers and butterflies and added a few rhinestones for some sparkle.
I'm happy with the way it turned out.
I hope she likes it!!!
