Die Cuttin' Divas Lions, Tigers and Bears Oh My! (Wizard of Oz Celebration) Challenge

OK, when I was young we used to watch The Wizard Of Oz every year when it aired on TV. It was an annual thing, like watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, or Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. After watching it on TV my 2 brothers, my sister and I would re-enact the movie. We'd throw together costumes - a few straws from Mom's broom and my little brother was the Scarecrow, an apron and braids, and I was Dorothy, you get the drift. What I am ashamed to admit is that I would make my baby sister get on all fours, follow me around, and be Toto. It's still a big joke between my sister and I to this day.

Well this week our challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas is Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My! (Wizard of Oz Celebration)

Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is Digital Delights!

I decided to make Dorothy's ruby slippers the focus of my card. I used 2 different Silhouette Studio cut files to create her shoes. Design #1710 for the shoes and #16776 for the bows.

For the sentiment I used part of design #42721 and a stamp by Graphic 45.

Supplies used: card stock - white, red glitter; patterned paper by Making Memories, stamps - Graphic 45; Silhouette Studio cut files; border punch - Martha Stewart.

Die Cuttin' Divas Pinterest Inspired Challenge

I don't know about you, but I'm addicted to Pinterest. My daily computer routine seems to always include blogging, Facebook and Pinterest. I seem to get so much inspiration from Pinterest and find myself scrolling through all the fun stuff for far to long.

Well this week our challenge over at Die Cuttin' Divas is to create a project that is Pinterest inspired or Fellow Crafter inspired.

Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is Digital Delights!

When I came across this card on Pinterest, I fell in love with it. I adore the crisp. clean, white with just the addition of sequins for color. I also love the negative die cut of the word Happy. It is by Marybeth at Marybeth's Time For Paper.

For my version I used stamps and a die cut from a kit by Papertrey Inc. called Shakers and Sprinkles. The sequins are by Lawn Fawn.

Supplies used: card stock - white; die, stamps, transparency, mounting tape - Papertrey Inc.; ink - Stampin' Up; sequins - Lawn Fawn.

Now pop on over to Die Cuttin' Divas and see all the fabulous inspiration the rest of the design team has come up with.

Welcome to the SnapDragon Snippets/SVG Attic Back To School blog hop!

We are super excited to have you join us!

At each stop of the hop you will be inspired by the creativity of each of Snapdragon Snippets and SVGAttic design team members. If you happened across this post out of order, please head to the SVG Attic blog to start at the beginning of the hop.

For my projects I created a cupcake treat box and an apple gift card box.

For the cupcake box I used file #64475, cupcake box apple cutout.

I wanted a tag for my box, so I used the two negative cuts from the box along with a stamp I had from Unity.

For the apple gift card holder I used file #64697, apple flat 3D  box gift card.

This went together even easier than I had anticipated and it is so super cute!!!

And of course if you hop with us, there are prizes to be won!

We are offering two gift cards to the SVGAttic store!

Die Cuttin' Divas Favorite Color Combination Challenge

It's time to have some fun with your favorite color combination this week over at Die Cuttin' Divas!

Use your favorite color combo - 2 colors, 3 colors, whatever is your palette.

Our sponsor for this weeks challenge is Double Click - AKA Busy Bee!

For my card I decided to use one of my many favorite color combos - pink and gray.

I created my card with a couple Silhouette Studio cut files and a font on my computer.

The sentiments original cut file said "fight like a girl", but I wanted it to say "run like a girl" so I created part of the sentiment on my computer and cut out only "girl" from the cut file.

Supplies used: card stock - white, black, grey, 2 shades of pink, peach; Silhouette Studio cut files; font - your choice.

Now pop on over to Die Cuttin' Divas and see all the fabulous inspiration the rest of the design team has come up with.

Hope to see you playing along with us!!!!

Getting To Know Me Blog Hop

I recently received an email from a good Bloggy friend of mine Gloria of Girlia's Cards.

I first met Gloria when I started following and participating in her challenge blog - Celebrate The Occasion. Such a fun challenge blog! When they announced they were having try outs for a design team I jumped at the chance since I was already having fun participating in their challenges. I was lucky enough to make the team and get to know both her and her co-creator Adrian. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed my first run as a DT member on a challenge blog.

Gloria is very creative and I know you will enjoy perusing all of her fun creations, so I hope you'll take the time to stop by her blog and leave her some love!

Thank you Gloria for thinking of me and asking me to be a part of this blog hop.

What am I working on?

Well, right now I am working on projects for two design teams I am on and a Back To School blog hop I will be participating in August 15th. I'm also working on a few craft items that I will be giving as gifts to some family and friends.

Below is a printers tray I did for my Mom a couple of years ago.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Well, I think everyone who creates puts a bit of themselves in their creations. We all have our own take on our projects, wether it be cards, a layout or any other craft we may be working on.

Here's a sample of the creations I did when I was asked to carry the torch for Amber Ink.

Why do I write/create what I do?

I have always had a passion for making things. I absolutely love to create stuff!!! I find it fun, relaxing, challenging, just to name a few. I also really enjoy giving people I care about something that I have made. I think when you share your creations, you're letting the person you are giving it to know how special they are to you because you took the time to create something just for them!!

Below is a shadowbox I created for my brother.

What Is Your Creative Process?

Often it is either based on something I need to create for a design team I am on or an occasion that is coming up for which I need a gift. I love to browse through both magazines and Pinterest for inspiration. So often I see something and think "That is so cool, but I would add_______ or I would do ________"  and then I get started on my version.

I would like to tag two of my favorite blogging friends to join in on the fun!
Next Monday you'll get to know them better.

First is Gaby of Gaby Creates. I started following her blog when I first started blogging. I just loved all of her creations and she continually inspired me. I got to know her even better when she invited me to be a guest blogger for "Link Up For Pink" and after that when I joined their design team. She still constantly amazes me with her endless creativity!! She's so sweet and generous and I am very fortunate  to, again, join her on a design team. This time for Snapdragon Snippets. I encourage you to follow her blog you will be continually amazed and inspired by her fabulous creations.

Second is Kim of Kimberly Harris Studio. I have been a blogging friend of Kims for many years as well. I think I came upon her blog during a blog hop for a design team she is on for Emma of My Creative Time. I was immediately in love with her darling projects and become a loyal follower. She has a ribbon collection to die for among other things. She makes the most unique cards, tags, treat boxes, etc. and she is super duper sweet to boot. Hop over and check out her blog you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for joining me today !!

Wine Shadowbox

I wanted to share a shadowbox I made for a dear friend of mine.

Along with coffee time at Starbucks, we also enjoy sharing a glass (or two) of wine together in the evening. We sit on her back deck, enjoy the scenery, cool breeze, and great conversation.

I purchased the shadowbox at Hobby Lobby on sale for 50% off, can't beat that!

I have a huge collection of corks that I have saved (not all the bottles were enjoyed by me), friends have donated to my collection also.

The cut files are both from Silhouette Studio.

The phrase on the front of the box is #62603, best wines drink with friends.

The wine glasses inside were cut with file #62780, wine glass by Snapdragon Snippets.

My girlfriend was thrilled and I had a great time making it!!!!
