My folks were visiting last week and while they were here my Mom and I decided to do a little redecorating. We call my Mom "Decorator Woman" because she is so good at setting up little vignettes. We both are so tired of winter and wanted a touch of spring. She set up a little butterfly vignette on the end table and it got me thinking about a cute wall decor item I had seen in my newest Simply Handmade magazine. Well it got my wheels spinning and inspired me to come up with this:Now I just have to decide the perfect place to hang it. I'm thinking I might put it in the guest half bath to replace the ice skating couple that is hanging in there now. Yes, I think winter needs to move out and be replaced by spring! For this project I first purchased a frame at Kohls, I was lucky because they had all their frames 50% off this weekend. The frame has an 8 X 10 opening with mat. I removed the glass.
The background paper is Jack & Jill "How Sweet It Is" yummy stripe paper from the Quite Contrary line by My Minds Eye cut 8 X 10.
Then Breeze in Blue Hill collection by Crate Paper cut 6 1/4 by 8 1/4 and distressed.
The butterflies are all cut at 2 1/2" with the Once Upon A Princess Cricut cartridge.
I used both sides of Jack & Jill "Sooo Cute" engaging gingham and both sides of Jack & Jill "Life is Good" serene spots paper. I used one side of Little Boy Blue "When I grow Up" daydream paper.
All of these are also from the Quite Contrary line by My Minds Eye.
I outlined the butterflies with my Zig pure black writer and attached only the bodies to the background so that the wings can bend up.
I tied a ribbon by American Crafts around the mat.
I am happy with the result!
Thanks Mom for the inspiration!
Happy Monday everyone!

Boy is it snowing today, which makes it a perfect day to be in my craft room! Somehow you don't feel guilty holing up in your craft room if the weather is horrible. Kind of gives you an excuse.

My second choice for a card today is Doily Thank You. I picked it because I had some beautiful paper by SEI that had a similar image. I thought it would make a striking card.

Supplies used: cardstock - oasis in Oasis by SEI; patterned paper - sichuan in Oasis by SEI; rhinestones - Kaiser Craft: rub on - SEI; corner rounder - Fiskars
The third card I picked is Elegant Just Because, which I picked just because it was elegant.

Wedding, Birthday, Thinking of You
Last night my parents (who are visiting) and my hubby & I had a Thanksgiving Dinner!
I know it is February, but we are thankful to be together. So, we had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, asparagus, cranberry jello salad, basically the whole nine yards minus the pumpkin pie. It was delicious! We even got out the good china. I think maybe it should be a tradition, Thanksgiving in February.
Anyway, on to cards. The first pick was Thank You Butterfly, it's just so pretty.
Card is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
Supplies used: cardstock - green, mustard yellow, brown; patterned paper - aromatherapy from origins by Basic Grey; rub on - sentiments by Crate Paper; pearls - Kaiser Craft; border punch - Martha Stewart; label punch - EK Success; butterfly sticker - element stickers in Curio by Basic Grey
For my second card I picked Gradient Thank You, but I chose to use paper rather than a stamped image.
Card is 4 1/4 X 5 1/4
Supplies used: cardstock - key lime and guava in Mimosa by SEI; patterned paper - valencia in Mimosa by SEI; chipboard elements in Mimosa by SEI; rub on - sentiments by Crate Paper
Third I chose My Sincerest Thanks because I thought it would make a beautiful wedding card.
Card is 7 X 4
Supplies used: cardstock - cream; patterned paper - Lush Blue Damask Paper by My Minds Eye; sentiment - Wedding Day Sayings by Me & My Big Ideas; ribbon and button - my stash; rhinestone - Lush Rhinestones Blue by My Minds Eye
Last card I chose Pink & Black Just Because.

Hi everyone! Hope your weekend was wonderful, mine was. Spent time in my craft room, which always makes me happy and my parents came for a visit! They haven't been up for a visit since July so I was very excited to have them!
Anyway on to cards. I just loved both the font and the lace cardstock used on Mom Valentine, so that was my first choice for today. Since Mother's Day is coming our way I changed it to a Mother's Day card.

Last of Clean & Graphic Category
This is the last two cards in the Clean and Graphic category and tomorrow we move on to Classy and Elegant! I'm looking forward to that, because it is the kind of cards I prefer to do! I am glad I started this challenge, though, because it has made me stretch my creativity into places I wouldn't usually go.
The first card for today is Boom Box Greetings which I picked because it is just a fun card!
Card is 4 1/4 X 4 3/4
Supplies used: cardstock - blue; patterned paper - Options kit; brads - Doodlebug; boom box chipboard - The Boyfriend by Cosmo Cricket; scribbles doodling template - Sweetwater; font - 2peas Ditzy
On this second card I just loved the 3D graphics of the city skyline. I cut out a similar skyline with my Going Places Cricut cartridge and changed the sentiment just a bit.
Card is 6 1/4 X 5 1/2
Supplies used: cardstock - black, two shades of gray and yellow; patterned paper - Meadowlark "Dusk" Lark Paper by My Minds Eye; font - Rockwell; city scape cut with Going Places Cricut cartridge
Hope to see you tomorrow when I start Classy and Elegant!

Sympathy Card, Etc.
Another snowy day spent in my craft room, bummer huh?
I have four new cards for you today, hope you like them and possibly get some inspiration from them.
I rarely find sympathy cards that I really like and choose to scraplift, but Love Memory is just perfect. I just really loved everything about it. The bird image and the sentiment are perfect!
I cut the bird image with my Home Decor Cricut cartridge.
Card is 4 1/2 X 5 3/4
Supplies used: cardstock - cream and black; patterned paper - Noir Polka Dot Rose in the Paper Reverie line by Making Memories; Bird cut from the Home Decor Cricut cartridge
I have to admit I wasn't super inspired by either of the two cards on the next page. For me, the Halloween card was a bit blah and I just didn't know what I would use the Go Dawg Go card for although it was cute. I decided to go with Halloween Wishes.
Card is 5 1/2 X 3
Supplies used: cardstock - orange and black; buttons - Little Yellow Bicycle; black floss; sentiment stamp - Halloween Night by Penny Black
You may wonder how my final version of the next card came from For My Friend, but I did keep the design the same. I just changed the image of the repeat and chose different paper.
Card is 5 X 7
Supplies used: cardstock - kraft; patterned paper - moving day by Moxxie; twill ribbon - my stash; rub on alphabet - Purkey miniMarks by American Crafts
Last for today is Simple Hello, which is just that, very simple to make.
Card is 4 1/4 X 5 1/4
Supplies used: cardstock - cream and rust; patterned papers from Hello Sunshine by Cosmo Cricket; brad is from my stash; alphabet letters - Daiquiri from America Crafts
Enjoy and have a creative day!
